Point of interest
The first documented reference to the Landgasthof Löwen country inn dates back to 1340, which makes it the oldest "Löwen" establishment in Switzerland. It offers homely rooms, a celebration hall and a sandstone wine cellar. It was also the filming location for a scene from the film, "Uli der Knecht", and it has had many famous guests, such as the astronaut Claude Nicollier and the entire Swiss Federal Council. But the oldest VIP in the gastronomy of the Emmental region is its cheese.
Several different inns in the Emmental region used to hold "cheese auctions", and even today they offer cheese events, such as the full moon fondue.
Further information and current events of the Löwen Heimiswil are available on the website of the Landgasthof.
